Models on Your Web Site

All suppliers can use Models on your website to publish their 3D ContentCentral catalog directly on their company Web sites. This gives customers the ability to view, configure, and download models directly from your Web site. The options are:
  • Automatic product syndication
  • Excel-based update

Automatic Product Syndication

Automatic product syndication uses feeds, such as RSS, to automatically make your content from 3D ContentCentral available on your company's Web site. This method requires some in-depth knowledge of Web syndication. Automatic product syndication automatically keeps your Web site content synchronized with 3D ContentCentral.

Excel-Based Update

Excel-based update generates a spreadsheet with URL links for each of your company's models on 3D ContentCentral. This method is easy to use, but requires you to manually update your Web site as your content on 3D ContentCentral changes.

Excel-Based Update

To use the spreadsheet with the URLs of your content on 3D ContentCentral:

  1. Click Models on your website.

  2. Click Download Catalog List.
  3. In the File Download dialog box, click Open.
  4. Copy the URL links from the spreadsheet to your Web site or database.
Note: The spreadsheet only lists models that are published.
  5. Verify that the links generate the correct content and that the models can be configured and downloaded properly.

Automatic Product Syndication

To use the automatic feeds:

  1. Click Models on your website.

  2. In Your catalog feeds, click a catalog feed. The feed page is displayed.
Note: For information on using the feed on your website, on the Models on your website page, click View sample website. From the sample website, click Download the source code for both ASP.NET and PHP examples to download the sample website files. After unzipping the files, you can view the sample source code. The two files, default.aspx and download.aspx, are commented to provide some introductory information on how to use the feeds in a website.
  3. You can incorporate the feed in your website by following the formatting shown in the sample files. Suppliers can use the feeds in any way they desire.
Note: The feed only shows models that are published.
Note: If you are having difficulty viewing the sample site page(s) on your Web server AND if your supplier name contains foreign (non-ASCII) characters, passing the supplier name via a querystring may not work if your website is not configured to handle UTF requests and responses.
